Project Progress
The first phase of the Project has been completed with a review and analysis of the forest sector to identify issues and problems in forest policy, legislation, forest economics and participation and reports produced. A workshop on public participation has already been held and others are in the various stages of planning and implementation.
In the second phase now in progress a draft forest policy and legislation will be produced through a participatory process and public debate. A workshop will also be held on strategic planning in forestry.
Subsequent phases of the project will be planned and implemented on the bases of the progress made and any new issues and problems that may emerge.
Project Duration
The Project became operational in April 2003 and is scheduled to be completed by November 2004
